Case Studies

Customer goes solvent free and saves money

Coding and marking of 'Bio' tea and infusion.

The application:
Customer needed to apply 3 types of coding:
1. Batch number and best before date on hardback sachets
2. Fixed text on plastic film (PP lacquered with Polyvinylidene chloride - PVDC) which wraps the tea sachets
3. Fixed text on the label of the tea sachets

Customer need:

The customer wanted to fix the maintenance problems they had with 4 Imaje S7 and have a marking solution in accordance with their ‘bio’ philosophy (no solvent, cleanliness and environmentally friendly).
Improvement of their current marking appeal was another purpose for the change,
As there were several products to code (porous and nonporous), the customer needed to be able to do all the jobs with the same printer.

Apsolute solution:
1 off Apsolute controller 2 groups/2 heads.
1 off Apsolute controller 2 groups/3 heads.
MultiSubstrate fast dry ink and water based inks depending on the product to code.

Competition:
Imaje Continuous Inkjet.

Apsolute winning points:

Because it doesn’t use any solvent and doesn’t generate any kind of toxic waste, the customer considered apsolute as being a ‘bio’ printer which was in full agreement with their philosophy.
Capability to print on several production lines and different substrates with the same controller. Customer was then able to replace 3 Imaje with 1 apsolute.
The flexibility that apsolute offers in regard to choice of fonts, logos and inks was a clear winning point for the customer.

Customer throws out Continuous Inkjet (CIJ) and increases reliability.
Customer says no to maintenance and downtime
